SRV (Service record)
A SRV (Service record) is a specification of data in the DNS defining the location, i.e. the hostname and port number, of servers for specified services.
To add an SRV record in dd24 it will be required to create a sub-domain like "_sip._tcp.example.com" first.
Example: _sip._tcp.example.com. 86400 IN SRV 0 5 5060 sipserver.example.com.
In this example the SRV record points to a server named sipserver.example.com listening on TCP port 5060 for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) protocol services. The priority given is 0, and the weight is 5.
NAPTR (Naming Authority Pointer)
A NAPTR (Naming Authority Pointer) is a type of resource record. It is used to assign DNS names and other information to server addresses. The NAPTR record is an extension of the classic records (including SRV records).
Time to live (TTL)
It is also possible to adjust the TTL temporarily (for a few days) to a lower value. This can be useful if you want to change the A record and if you want to ensure that this change is published as soon as possible in the DNS. Please keep in mind to change the TTL value to "300 seconds" at least 24 hours prior to the actual change, since the TTL must be published in the DNS in the first place as well.
